CCPP is a COVIDSafe practice

Who We Are

Central Clinical Psychology Practice (CCPP) prides itself as a friendly, inviting, and professional centre committed to each client’s unique requirements for care and wellbeing. CCPP operates in compliance with the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Code of Ethics and all additional requirements as set by regulatory bodies. CCPP sets a reasonable and flexible fee structure sympathetic to the desirability for some clients to receive bulk billing (ie, with provision of a GP Mental Health Care Plan).

Importantly, as CCPP is orientated to client-focused therapy, and not assessment for secondary parties, e.g., ‘medico legal’ type reports (say, for a DSP, etc.), clients are recommended to seek a suitable practitioner at another practice for a comprehensive report of this sort.

Dr Michael John

PhD MAPS FCCLP FCFP

Michael is an endorsed Clinical and Forensic psychologist who draws upon almost thirty-five years of full-time experience in responding to client’s needs. Michael recognises that therapy is only meaningfully transacted via a quality relationship with a client, and that therapy must be attuned at all times to a client’s needs to preserve this bond of trust and security. In this regard, it should be noted that Michael has completed Cultural Sensitivity Training provided by the Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association.

As a core foundation for understanding the mind and intervention, Michael relies on ‘CBT’, which is the gold-standard for evidence-based treatment. However, CBT must itself be tailored to the unique requirements of each person, and so skills with ‘existential’ and ‘narrative’ therapy are also particularly utilised. Such work is fully in-keeping with orthodox interventions, for example, the treatments undertaken by Psychiatrists where medication or other interventions may be usefully called upon. Michael is especially skilled with respect to presentations of Depression & Melancholia, Anxiety & Panic, Trauma & Complex Trauma, Self-Esteem Issues, Relationship Difficulties, Alcohol & Substance Abuse, and, overarching all these conditions, the client’s unique journey in life to secure their genuine sense of meaning and wellbeing.
